At just 17 years of age, Henry Hart is already making a name for himself in the Essex Senior League. Hart was a regular starter for Romford FC where he made his semi-professional debut and since signing for Barking, he hopes to continue showcasing his abilities for The Blues.
This move comes after Barking u18’s incredible FA Youth Cup run, where they reached the Third Round of the FA Youth Cup. Unfortunately, their story came to an end as they took Millwall to extra time before a heart-breaking 5-3 defeat.
“I was delighted with the team performance after the game,” Henry stated, “I believed we gave them a match they won’t forget and came close to finding a winner late on. Despite the result, I am genuinely pleased with the team’s effort…
… Personally, I felt very happy with my performance. This game provided me with an opportunity to showcase the player that I am and highlight my abilities on the pitch.
Playing at The Den was an incredible experience, it was my first time being this close to a professional environment, and it’s a moment I will never forget.”
However, as amazing as the feeling of a cup run is, nothing comes close to men’s football and Henry Hart has thrived in taking on the challenge of adapting to the level.
“Playing Non-League football for a season and a half has exposed me to a different level of football. The transition has been significant, and I’ve learned numerous valuable lessons in the world of non-league, especially as a young player.
Incorporating these lessons into my own game has contributed to my growth as a player, making me more skilled and well-rounded on the pitch.”
Despite still being so young, Henry has a lot to look back on:
“My proudest achievements in football have been notable. Making it to the final trial of the England School Boys team was a remarkable experience. Additionally, playing for the Barking FA Youth Cup team and reaching the Third Round proper against Millwall, where we made history, was a defining moment.
Lastly, being given the chance to make my non-league debut last season for Romford FC’s first team added another layer of accomplishment.
While it’s difficult to choose if I were to pick one, making history with Barking stands out. Setting a record at the club was a source of immense pride for all members of the club. This was a truly memorable achievement in my football journey.”
Barking's first team have since acquired the young full-back, signing him from fellow Essex Senior League side, Romford. Henry Hart made his debut for The Blues on the 23rd of December, from the bench, to help see out a comfortable 3-0 victory away to Coggeshall Town.
